Provectus supports VolkerFitzpatrick at Lutterworth

Provectus Remediation was recently appointed to manage asbestos contaminated soils on Magna Park Development site in Lutterworth for VolkerFitzpatrick. The contaminated soils comprise of licensed asbestos containing materials (ACM) as well as non-licensed ACM debris that are to be removed from site as part of the cut and fill surplus.

After a competitive tender process, VolkerFitzpatrick found that the bespoke approach proposed by Provectus Remediation was not only the most compliant and cost effective option, it also guaranteed total peace of mind for the other works taking place concurrently. The licensed asbestos works, to segregate asbestos insulation board from soils, was undertaken by our asbestos subcontractor HES. Provectus Remediation provided the following services to VolkerFitzpatrick to ensure that the works were undertaken safely and cost effectively:

  • HSE notification of licensed works;
  • A safe system of work including segregated working areas and decontamination facilities;
  • Reassurance monitoring throughout;
  • Segregation of licensed and unlicensed asbestos materials on site, and
  • Compliant disposal of licensed asbestos and contaminated soils with ACM debris.

Disposal of the asbestos contaminated soils were to the landfill tax exempt soil treatment facility operated by Provectus Soils Management in their strategic alliance with FCC Environment at Rowley Regis.

Mark Dodd, Remediation Manager at VolkerFitzpatrick, commented: ‘By working with Provectus, we have been able to proactively manage this problematic soil, containing both licensed and non-licensed asbestos. Through engaging with Provectus, a vast quantity of material has been diverted from being unnecessary sent to hazardous landfill, and the associated costs have been reduced for the client.’
